George Wallace Stroud was born in September 1852, most likely on September 29 in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee.1 He married Alvina G. Fischer on April 14, 1877, in Pope County, Illinois.2 The couple had nine children between 1877 and 1900. Eight survived to be recorded in the 1900 census—all born in Kentucky: Lilian (March 1881), Charlotte (December 1883), Luona (May 1886), Willie (September 1888), Frederick (September 1890), George (March 1893), Charles (February 1895), and Clarice (November 1897).3

George resided in Livingston County, Kentucky, throughout his adult life. The 1900 census records the family in Ray Spring Voting Precinct, and the 1910 census places them in Magisterial District 5, both within Livingston County.4 5 George passed away in Livingston County on December 20, 1917. While his death certificate identifies his mother as Elizabeth Johnston, the father's name is not listed.6 He was interred the next day at Loves Chapel Cemetery (also known as Loves Cemetery), where his grave marker can still be found today.7
